Carrollton, Texas is about a thirty minute drive north from Dallas and is located in Denton County, Dallas County and Collin County. The city was settled in 1842 by Jared Ford and it was named after Carrollton Illinois as many of the settlers to this area were from Carrollton. These early newcomers first built homes around what is known today as Perry-Park and currently about 120,000 residents live there.
